"The earth is not ours to do with as we please;
it is held by us in trust to pass on intact to our children"

An ecological educational charity committed to researching, experimenting and teaching sustainable living and permaculture.

At the Unicorn Ecological Foundation, we strongly believe in living according to that adage. We believe that everyone can play their part in making sure that the least we do is pass the planet on to our children in a condition that is as good as, if not better than, the one we found it in. It isn’t rocket science, and we hope that the ideas you’ll find on our website will show you that sustainable living and permaculture are things that we can all contribute to - without losing the comforts of modern life.

Our approach to ecology

Achieving balance in the way you live your life is not as hard as you might think. As an educational charity, we currently help people to achieve it by:

  • Combining new technologies with well-established techniques to discover viable approaches to sustainability
  • Living by example, showing how to apply sound ecological principles to your own home environment
  • Pointing you in the right direction to find out more about sustainable living
  • Working with government bodies, independent organisations and power suppliers to investigate ways to eliminate the damage we do to the environment as a result of our need to extract resources from it
  • Inviting you to join us and learn hands-on for yourself.

Sustainable living and permaculture
We hope you find that our successes and the suggestions on this site inspire you to give some of them a go for yourself, and play your part - however small - in saving the world. If you want to know more, or would like to come and visit us in the beautiful Irish county of Cork, please use the Contact us page to get in touch - we’d love to hear from you.
