Kiwis in Polytunnel

Sustainable food

Because we want to pass this planet on to future generations in great shape, we are really keen to make sure that we only ‘take’ things that we can give back. For that reason, we are keen to make sure that the food we eat is sustainable, and that we are not permanently depriving the land we live on of important resources.

Polytunnel

We grow our own food in a number of different ways. We have our own orchard, and grow our own apples, pears, plums, cherries, nuts and soft fruits. We grow onions, potatoes and much more using the land around our site, and we have also constructed a polytunnel to grow salads, herbs, fruit and vegetables. We can grow some pretty exotic stuff, including kiwis, bananas and honeydew melons that mean we can enjoy the taste of gorgeous fresh fruit without having to transport it from the other side of the world - another practice that causes damage to the environment.

Free from artificial additives

We are looking to take the concept of growing our own exotic food a step further with the establishment of a ‘perpetual garden’ a form of eco-dome where we will be able to grow all manner of natural goodness. Growing our own food means that we know it is fresh and free from artificial additives, and has not involved vast amounts of transportation to get onto our plates. Crucially, it is also extremely cost-effective. Our food tastes fresher and better than supermarket-bought produce, and it comes in at a fraction of the cost too.
