Our wormery
We love worms. We really, really love worms. A big part of our ethos is about reusing our waste to help us produce things we can use again, and nowhere is this better demonstrated than by our wormeries. By putting our leftover food (along with other goodies such as plain cardboard) into our wormery, we are able to produce plenty of fertiliser that keeps the crops in our polytunnel growing at remarkable rates. This puts food on our plates, and what is left over goes back into the wormery which helps us to produce...you get the picture.
Tiger worms
We've had our wormery for four years now, and it is currently home to hundreds of hungry tiger worms who chomp their way through our waste and give us soil rich in nutrients instead. In return, we let them live in an old fridge and make sure that they get enough waste to consider themselves living in worm nirvana.
Baby bio
Another fabulous by-product of our wormery is the waste produced by the worms themselves - a black liquid that is incredibly rich and does great things to plants. In shops, it is sold as baby bio and is worth more than gold - we have a regular, constant source of the stuff, and our plants are very grateful for it.
